Can I transfer a .com Freewebs domain name to GoDaddy but still keep the Freewebs account to manage the site?

I originally made a freewebs site for my local sports team, and then after its popularity grew, I registered a .com domain with their own freewebs domain services (powered by Wild West Domains.) I now want to move my .com domain to GoDaddy (or similar) to save money, as I realise that I've been stung by freewebs domain services high prices. My question is whether I can move the .com domain and still retain the ability to manage my webpage as a freewebs website, using their tools etc. I'm not keen to try to replicate my page by coding everything myself, and I'm a bit confused here! Thanks! D.(I.can.ha...)

If you registered the domain in your name, you can move it to any hosting company you choose, but you will not be able to manage it on free webs. You will have to move your files to godaddy. When building a site on freewebs you have to supply all images text and graphics to build the site. You should have these files on your hard drive. Unfortunately, you have to design a container for these files with an editor for a site. Godaddy has a wysiwyg editor (what you see is what you get) thats fairly easy to use. You don't have to know any coding (html or css). You should have gotten info on it when you bought your hosting plan. Give em a call. They will help. P.S. Wild West domains is an affiliate of godaddy.(Dr. Jay)

You will have to read Freewebs terms of service to see what their policies are. If all that is bothering you is the annual renewal fee you might be better off to stay where you are until you learn how to duplicate your site with software other than Freewebs. As stated before Wild West Domains is a GoDaddy company so I doubt there will be that much of a price difference for the renewal fee.(Greg G)
